Dear Families,
Can you believe the first month of school is over? It was certainly an exciting one. This week brought the beginning of project
class. Second graders returned to
homeroom from their first project class with smiling faces and an excitement
for learning.
Wednesday is our first field trip. We neglected to put a space for chaperone
sign up on the permission slip. We
are hoping for at least 5 adults to come with us to the pumpkin patch. If you are interested email me soon. It is a very exciting day for the second
grade students. Please share it with us.
In homeroom this week we used paper mache to create our
volcanoes. We learned about the magma chamber, volcanic vents, and how lava
becomes new land and rock. In the
upcoming weeks we will paint and then erupt our volcano creations! Thank you Dave for helping us complete 26
miniature volcano models.
Thank you to everyone who attended curriculum night. If you
were unable to attend all handouts went home in the Friday folder. If you signed up to volunteer this year you
can begin coming to room 13 next week. However, if you signed up for Wednesday
keep in mind we have fieldtrips October 4th and October 11th
so we will not need in class help.
Homework Update: I hope everyone received the rock
collection homework assignment. Have fun choosing the perfect rocks to send to
school next week. Please be sure to
leave valuable rocks at home.
Finally, I have updated the blog with photographs from the
last couple of weeks. Be sure to take a
look! You can find us at http://classroomlink.blogspot.com
When you go to the blog you can ‘Follow by Email’ by typing
in your email address in the upper right hand corner and clicking FOLLOW. You will then receive an email when the blog
is updated.
Enjoy your weekend,
